INTRODUCTION TO FIRE FIGHTING
A learner will be able to:
- Prevent fires, understand fire behaviours, and use basic fire fighting equipment safely.
Purpose of the Course:
A learner will be capable of identifying, containing, preventing, and extinguishing different types of fires by operating basic fire fighting equipment.
Accreditation:
This course is not an HWSETA Accredited course but it is based on SAQA Unit Standard Number 252250. No entry level restrictions.
Content of the Course:
- Triangle (Tetrahedron) of Combustion
- Transmission of heat
- Classes of fires
- Extinguishing mediums
- Practical demonstration on the use of Fire Extinguishers
- Activate alarm system and report to fire department
