Leaner will be able to:

• Apply the recognised methods for inspecting and recording the operational fitness of all components.
• Identify and Classify freight / loads.
• Handle Load and store freight in accordance with industry standards.
• Achieve maximum work performance of lifting equipment and attachments.
• Operate equipment in accordance with organisational and legislative standards.
• Accessing available emergency support system and services in case of incidents and accidents.

Purpose of the Course:

For the learner to be able to operate a counter-balanced lift truck in a safe manner, as well as be able to conduct pre and post inspections to ensure the performance of the lift trucks. The learner will be able to handle the loading and storage of the freight by using the equipment and its accessories in the required manner.

Accreditation:

This course is a TETA and DOT Accredited course and is based on SAQA Unit Standard Number 242974.

Entrance Requirements:

• Proficient in the English Language and Math Literacy
• At least 18 years of age
• Must have a medical certificate of fitness or a declaration from the employer confirming the medical fitness or a valid PRDP
• An eye test result by a trained person to carry out such test
• Shall wear their own personal protective equipment.
